About us
Jose Gonzalez, MD is the founder of the Rural Health Support Program (RHSP), created to address the critical pulmonary care needs of rural hospitals and communities.
Dr. Gonzalez brings nearly a decade of experience as a hospitalist and physician, having worked across multiple health systems in several states. His clinical expertise and first-hand understanding of hospital operations ensure that RHSP delivers practical, high-quality, and patient-centered telepulmonology care.
His commitment is to expand access, improve outcomes, and strengthen local healthcare systems by keeping world-class pulmonary care closer to home.

Dr. Gustavo A. Ferreira is a seasoned pulmonologist practicing in San Antonio, TX. Board-certified in Sleep Medicine, he brings decades of experience in treating a wide spectrum of respiratory conditions, including critical care and interventional pulmonology. Dr. Ferreira earned his medical degree from Escuela Colombiana de Medicina and completed his residency and fellowship in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease at BronxCare Health System.
He is affiliated with the Methodist Hospitals System, where he provides comprehensive pulmonary and sleep medicine care. Dr. Ferreira is committed to delivering high-quality and compassionate care to patients throughout the Greater San Antonio Region, helping expand access to specialized pulmonary services in both urban and rural settings.
Dr. Franklin Argueta is board certified in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Internal Medicine. He completed his residency and fellowship training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he gained extensive expertise in managing complex respiratory and critical care conditions.
Originally from Honduras, Dr. Argueta earned his medical degree at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras in Tegucigalpa. His areas of expertise include asthma, COPD, and comprehensive pulmonary care, with a strong commitment to improving long-term respiratory health and delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
Dr. Nidia Leon, MD is an experienced pulmonologist based in San Antonio, TX, with over 30 years of expertise in pulmonary and critical care medicine. She completed her fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care at the University of Southern Illinois and earned her medical degree from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Peru. She has extensive experience managing obstructive lung diseases, including COPD, asthma, and chronic bronchitis, as well as a wide range of complex pulmonary conditions.
Originally from Peru and fully bilingual in English and Spanish, Dr. Leon provides culturally competent, patient-centered care, offering exceptional clinical insight and a compassionate approach to respiratory health.
